The sides met last Tuesday night when St Pat's beat UCD 5-0 to open up a five point lead at the top of the Airtricity League Premier Division, and they almost repeated that scoreline as they again cruised past the students and into the third round.
It took until the 31st minute for the opening goal, which Christy Fagan got for the home side. Jake Kelly did the work on the left hand side before crossing to Chris Forrester, who found Fagan to fire home.
And shortly after half-time Fagan doubled the lead. This time it was all his own work with a great strike from outside the box which gave Conor O'Donnell no chance in the UCD goal.
Kelly then made the game safe on 62 minutes when he dispossessed centre back Thomas Boyle to slot home past O'Donnell, and things then went from bad to worse for the UCD defence when Gareth Matthews bundled the ball into his own net to see Pat's home.
