Sunderland 1 - St Patrick's Athletic 1

David Dowson scored as Sunderland drew with Irish side St Patrick's at the Stadium of Light.

The game, played in cold and windy conditions, was part of St Patrick's pre-season schedule.

The home side went ahead in the 13th minute and it was a bizarre goal.

St Pat's goalkeeper Barry Ryan smashed a clearance against Dowson as the striker charged it down and it rebounded towards the goal before going in.

Mark Quigley equalised in the 72nd minute, riding two tackles before slotting a shot under Trevor Carson.

Carson made a good save from Keith Fahey in the 85th minute to deny the tourists a winner.

Sunderland's side included Quinton Fortune who is trying to win a contract at the Stadium of Light.

French centre-back Jean-Yves M'voto also played, his second game since signing earlier this month.
