St Patrick's Athletic 0 - Bohemians 2

Bohemians claimed the SSE Airtricity League U17 Mark Farren Memorial Cup with an impressive 2-0 win over St Patrick's Athletic at Richmond Park.

The trophy was presented to Bohemians by Republic of Ireland international James McClean, who was a former teammate of Derry City legend Mark Farren, who sadly passed away in February after a battle with cancer.

The FAI made the decision to name the U17 Cup after the late Mark Farren earlier this year and this was the first final to be played in his name.

It was a final Bohemians dominated from start to finish as they restricted the SSE Airtricity U17 League Champions to very few chances at Richmond Park.

It took just five minutes for Bohs to go ahead as powerful forward Robbie Dunne was able to fend off the Pats defence to finish from just outside the area.

He could have doubled his tally in the 20th minute as his effort, destined for the top corner, was deflected wide of the right-hand poSt Bohs continued to create and had the best move of the game just before the break as a neat passing move saw flying defender Eoin Doyle cross for Domo Peppard who volleyed over.

The Dalymount side continued to create chances just after the break as Aaron Lynch took advantage of some poor defending to race through but he was denied by a fine save from Pats keeper Paul Martin in the 54th minute.

Martin continued to be busy throughout the second-half and was once again at his best to deny Lynch after Pats lost the ball high up the pitch 25 minutes from time.

Bohs sealed the Mark Farren Memorial Cup with 18 minutes remaining. Another fine move from Bohs saw the impressive Lynch beat his defender on the left to cross for Steven Nolan to tap home from close range after he made a fine run across the near poSt

The defeat shouldn't distract from what has been a great season for St Patrick's Athletic U17's who previously won the SSE Airtricity League U17 title with a win over UCD last week.
