Leahy Signs For Saints

St Patrick's Athletic are happy to confirm the signing of defender Michael Leahy ahead of the 2018 SSE Airtricity League Premier Division season.

Leahy joins the club as preparations continue to build-up for the upcoming campaign which begins on February 16th as the Saints begin with a home fixture against reigning Champions, Cork City.

Leahy (28) joins the Inchicore side after recently spending two years at Sligo Rovers and one at Limerick in 2014, while the defender had two spells at UCD between 2007-2012 and returned for the 2015 season where he featured in the Students' UEFA Europa League run.

Speaking to stpatsfc.com, Buckley outlined his happiness at securing the signature of Leahy ahead of the upcoming season adding that the Dubliner will be a great addition to his squad.

"Mick is a really good pro and will be a great addition to our squad. Adding a defender to the group has been an aim for us over the past few weeks so to bring in someone with the experience Mick has is a huge boost for us."

"Mick has about 10 years of playing in the Premier Division under his belt, as well as some European experience with UCD so we know that he will be pushing for a first team place. It's another signing that we feel will stand to us over the course of the season."

Leahy becomes the 21st player signed up for the Saints who begin their pre-season campaign this Saturday with a friendly against Cabinteely at 4pm in Marley Park
