McGrath Gets Irish U19 Cap
Jamie McGrath made a first appearance for the Republic of Ireland's U19 side as they began their UEFA U19 Championships qualifying campaign with a 1-0 victory over Malta at the RSC in Waterford this evening.
McGrath, who made his senior début for the Saints in the club's Leinster Senior Cup final win over Longford Town last September and also started in the Saints' final home league game in 2014 against Athlone Town, entered the field of play after 83 minutes to replace Galway United midfielder, Ryan Manning.
Paul Doolin's side won thanks to a goal from Eoghan Stokes' on 17 minutes after he turned home Manning's brilliant left wing cross.
Ireland's next fixture sees them play Gibraltar on Saturday at Ferrycarrig Park in Wexford, while their final group game sees back in the RSC when they entertain Switzerland on Tuesday.
Everyone at St Patrick's Athletic FC congratulates Jamie on his achievement.
