Colm Foley is back training with the team, having missed the a third of last season due to cruciate ligament damage. Following an operation before Christmas, Colm has joined up with the team with their pre-season training.
Although Foley is still some time from being fully match fit, John McDonnell acknowledged that having the club captain back training is a plus; “we missed Collie in the later stages of last season, Stephen (Caffrey) did a great job filling the position, but the important thing is to have him back training and getting back to full fitness”.
There will be strong competition for the 2 centre-half position, between Foley, Caffrey, Darragh Maguire and David Mulcahy, the recent acquisition from Waterford.
