DUNDALK NEXT UP FOR SAINTS ON SUNDAY

Jeff Kenna, his backroom staff and players can feel very proud of themselves today having secured one of the greatest wins in the club's history.

Last night's 1-0 defeat of Russian side Krylya Sovetov is not only a massive boost for the club but also for the League of Ireland.

Kenna was delighted with his players and the way they followed the match plan, “we worked on keeping a clean sheet but we knew that Declan (O'Brien) would always pose a threat up front.

We had a few decent chances in the game and I'm delighted we took one. It was a great strike and it really showed his class.

We're under no illusions how difficult it will be in the return leg but I believe in my players”.

Jeff gave special praise to the Pat's supporters and the contribution they made to the night “the fans were excellent from start to finish and you could see the response in the players.

Support like that can give players a bit of an edge, you see it in their play and it becomes contagious throughout the team”.

While delighted with the result the team has only two days to recover before taking on Dundalk in the League of Ireland, “that was one of the biggest results of my career but we all need to realise that while European nights are very special and a welcome distraction from the league, the league is still our bread and butter.

Dundalk will be a massive game we'll enjoy tonight and then we'll focus on Sunday.

St Pat's take on Dundalk FC on Sunday at Richmond Park. The match kicks off at 7.00pm and tickets are on sale from the club shop. Come along and support St Pat's!
