CLASSY SAINTS DEFEAT NAAS Part I

FOURTH placed Naas visited Brickfields to play second placed St Patrick's Athletic in their Under 14 clash chasing to stay in touch at the top.

The team from Kildare arrived unbeaten in their last four games and not conceding a goal in any of them while The Saints last outing saw them squeeze past Leicester Celtic
1-0 away from home.

The game kicked off at pace and a frantic start saw Pat's pressurizing the Naas goal without finding a way through.
As the game settled down the best chance of the opening minutes came the way of the away side.

Rory Byrne was released down the Pat's left and his cross from the by-line was fumbled by Pat's keeper Martin Carroll. Pat's fullback Gareth Byrne came to his keeper's rescue blocking Bryan O'Conner's attempt on the follow up and allowed Carroll to pounce on the ball through a forest of legs.

That seemed to shake Pat's into life as the Inchicore lads struck to take the lead soon after. Good interplay on the Naas left allowed Jason Ryan to whip in a zipping cross, Karl Tims raced in front of his marker and his header looped into the Naas net.
