HATRICK HERO TIMS

Having just returned from their trip to Barcelona, our 13's took on St Joseph's Boys on Saturday. Joeys came to the Brickfields needing the win to help them avoid relegation.

It didn't start too well for the Sallynoggin lads when Karl Tims opened the scoring after just two minutes. Joey's knew how important the game was to them and to their credit got themselves back into it, first leveling and then taking the lead after 15 minutes.

As the first half was coming to an end a sweeping move from the Pats left across to the right found Glen Carroll. He beat the full back before finding Tims on the edge of the box - somehow the Pats striker's shot beat all to nestle in the bottom corner 2-2 at the break.

Both teams took the game to each other in the 2nd half without creating too many clear chances. Eventually Pats fashioned one.

Winning possession just inside the Joeys half through Craig Smithers, his neat ball forward into Danny O'Leary was laid back into Smithers' path and with the outside of his left foot the ball flew into the top left hand corner of the net to give Pat's the lead.

As the game entered its final stages Joey's needed something from the game and threw everyone forward in search of an equalizer. Pats defended and won possession on the edge of their box, and incisive long ball forward from Keifer Byrne released Tims. The striker made no mistake to complete his hatrick.

4-2 to the Inchicore lads.
