€500 FINE FOR BOTTLE THROWING INCIDENT

The FAI Disciplinary Commission have handed the club a €500 fine as a result of a bottle being thrown onto the pitch from the main stand during the FAI Carlsberg Cup Semi-Final in Tolka Park.

The incident occured in the 39th minute of the game after a free kick had been awarded against Trevor Molloy in front of the St Pats supporters at the Ballybough end of the main stand. The game was briefly held up while referee Ian Stokes removed the bottle from the pitch.

"Incidents like these do nothing to help the club", club secretary Stephen Connelly commented. "Throwing any object onto the field of play has never encouraged a referee anywhere in the world to reverse a decision. As a result of the actions of this one person we face a sizeable fine, money that could be put to better use elsewhere in the club".
