Pat's Fans Demand Stadium Answers

A group of St Patrick’s athletic fans have written an open letter to the club’s board demanding answers to questions over a proposed groundshare with Shamrock Rovers and the future of their home at Richmond Park.

‘Pat’s For Richmond’ say they are committed to the principle that the best future for the club lies in continuing the development of Richmond Park, where they host Shelbourne in the league tonight.

‘We wish to strongly refute the recent statement to the media by Stephen Connelly, secretary of the club, in which he stated members of the club’s Patron Scheme felt “the principle of groundsharing is not a bad one”,’ the group’s statement read

‘All of us attended the recent Patrons Scheme meeting and the overwhelming mood of the meeting was not in favour of groundsharing – the clear preference was to maintain and develop Richmond Park.’ ‘Pat’s For Richmond’ now want the club’s board to explain whether the board agree development of Richmond Park is a viable long-term proposal, whether the Club has conducted detailed research into the cost of developing Richmond Park and whether they will share that information with supporters.

They also demand to know whether formal discussions have been requested by any third party regarding the possibility of playing home games away from Richmond Park and whether the board would decide to play home games anywhere other than Richmond if that was against the clearly-expressed wishes of majority of supporters.

Pat’s fans will tonight welcome back Alan Reilly from suspension and David Mulcahy – over a bout of flu – but Stephen Caffrey (groin) is likely to miss out.
