Jeff Kenna reckons new signing Darragh Ryan will prove to be a key player for St Patrick's Athletic this season.
The former Cork City man became the fifth player to arrive at Richmond Park since Kenna took charge of The Super Saints and is seen as someone that can be quite important.
After Dave Rogers, Stephen Paisley, John Frost, and Dessie Byrne all left the club, there was a need to find someone that could cover the left-back position and Ryan can do exactly that.
The added advantage of having someone like Ryan in the squad is that he can also play in midfield or fill in on the opposite flank, but is at his best when deployed on the left side.
"Darragh will bring experience as he's been in the league for a few years now, his pedigree speaks for itself," Kenna told the Evening Herald.
"We didn't have too much cover down the left side so Darragh will give us that as he can play in defence or midfield.
"We have a decent squad now but I would still like to bring in two more players, we'll see what business we can do in the next couple of days."
The Inchicore outfit have yet to decide on whether they will offer a contract to striker Gavin Glinton, who is currently on trial with the club.
