Derry City return to domestic matters on Sunday evening when they host Saint Patrick's Athletic at the Brandywell in the Premier Division of the eircom League. Aside from the lingering farce of a potential points deduction for Derry, they can move level on points with Shelbourne at the top of the eircom League on Sunday.
Derry City vs St. Patricks Athletic
(Brandywell Stadium - 7:30 pm - Premier)
Referee : Paul Tuite
Derry trail Shels by three points and importantly have two games in hand. The Saints are sixth but could move back up to fifth if results went their way on Sunday.
Derry should be near full strength and it could come down to whether Stephen Kenny elects to rest any players with knocks after Thursday's demolition of Gretna. Peter Hutton, Stephen O'Flynn, Gary Beckett and Kevin Deery all carried knocks into that game on Thursday. Sean Hargan is available again after apparently being suspended against Bray last week. The game in Scotland also marked the first game back for Pat McCourt.
Stephen O'Flynn begins a two game ban for the Candystripes.
The Saints should be near full strength too and they haven't played competitively since the 23rd July. The lay-off has meant a couple of suspensions have come together and David Mulcahy and Anthony Murphy must sit out one game bans.
Look out for Derry's home form in this one, they have played 14 competitive games at the Brandywell this year losing none with only Sligo Rovers and Glentoran managing to score there. The Candystripes have won all eight eircom league games played in Derry so far this season.
